Join Me For Dinner
Over the years I've been to many meets and there is usually little or no interaction between fans and athletes. This year I thought it would be fun to have a big dinner to say thanks to all our fans and supporters. Plus, we can get to know one another a bit. I would love to have you join me for this event. Attending will be a handful of National Team athletes... Information below. When: Sunday night following the conclusion of finals. Where: Intermezzo Pizzeria...one mile from the pool! Cost: $20 gets you drinks, a personal pizza of your choice, and includes tax and tip. Please spread the word and join us for a great night. Contact me on twitter at @G_WeberGale if you have questions. Hope to see y'all there!
Join me in giving #foodthanks this week
There is a very cool initiative underway in social media called #foodthanks. It's an effort to express appreciation to all those who provide our food. Obviously that ranges from the farmers to truckers to kitchen staff to chefs and many more. You can learn more about the effort, along with how you can help at www.foodthanks.com. For a little more background visit www.athleticfoodie.com. then join me in expressing your #foodthanks.
Here's a cool visual created from the Twitter avatars of those tweeting about #foodthanks.

Garrett has a wonderful opportunity Monday night in Austin as he is the "celebrity" emcee for a very cool sounding cooking event, Chefs Under Fire. He's been studying and practicing all weekend. We will be sure to update here. Also check out the Chefs Under Fire Facebook page.
Tiburon fundraiser in San Francisco
It was a good weekend for Garrett in California as you might have seen on Twitter. Here's a link to a story about the fundraiser from Swim Network. The event brought together a number of Olympians.

Tweet of the Week: Celebrity Chef Tom Colicchio says eat Louisiana seafood
We've all seen plenty about the mess in the Gulf of Mexico. Most of us are helpless to do anything about the oil spill. That's why it was nice to see celebrity Chef Tom Colicchio heading south to see what he could do to help. In case you don't know, Colicchio is more than a celebrity. The guy has serious chef credentials. Many say he is one of the best in America. Recently chef Colicchio won the James Beard award for 2010 Outstanding Chef!
Some with fame and money sit back and enjoy the good life. Others, try to have a positive impact on the world.
Tweets from Tom:
@andersoncooper heading down to grand Isle on sunday to witness first hand the devastation of the gulf fishing industry.
