Funny Taste Test. Do You Know Where Bottled Water Really Comes From?
Funny Video from Penn and Teller on Bottled Water
I was feeling a little guilty at Nationals last week when I sent my parents out for the second time to buy a case of bottled water. Yikes, we swimmers drink gallons of that stuff. In Beijing, the U.S. Olympic team shipped over pallets and pallets of little plastic bottles. (We truly had to do that, of course.) Unfortunately, we athletes have no choice but to be careful about what we drink when traveling. Plus we have to have water when and where we need it. Bottled fits the bill
Aside from competition, however, bottled water is a luxury most of us really don’t need. So save yourself some money. Eliminate some garbage. Tap water in a refillable bottle is probably all you need.

Hey Garrett,
I was just checking YouTube to see if I could catch you in action at the Nationals, (I don’t have a television so I have to wait for swimming vids to surface on YouTube.), and I decided to check your blog (since I’ve not read it in a bit of time).
Excellent post on water. The plastic bottles from water alone are suffocating the environment. Last year I decided to switch from purchasing bottled water and bought a water filter. Now, I simply filter my tap water, pour it into a stainless steel bottle and take it with me.
(The tap water where I live does taste awful. Even my dogs dislike it so I need to filter it.)
Doing without plastic bottled water saves money, the environment, and more.
May this find you well and thriving.
Thanks for your great blog.
p.s. Since I didn’t catch a video of you at Nationals, I watched one of THAT relay race at the 2008 Olympics. I am still in awe of what you did in your leg of that race.
